DE Included in GM SUV Recall.
DETROIT (AP)- Delaware is among the places being added to a list where General Motors is recalling vehicles over concerns about the brakes.
The automaker says more than 500,000 SUV's and pickups are involved in this latest recall. It covers the 1999-2002 model years of the Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban, and the GMC Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The problem is that road grime can wedge its ways into a plastic piece that covers the anti-lock brake sensor. The result is salt corrosion, which, in turn, leads to unwanted activation of the anti-lock brakes at low speeds. The cars then need a longer stopping distance.
GM is now recalling vehicles in a total of 20 states and the District of Columbia.
